Where can I get a contact lens exam and contact lenses?

At Central PA Eye & Ear we offer professional contact lens eye exams and a wide and diverse range of contact lenses options including dailies, extended wear, multifocals, toric, colored lenses, hard and soft contact lenses. A good contact lens fit starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure the most up-to-date prescription and rule out any pre-existing conditions that could interfere with contact lens wear. Whether you wear daily, weekly or monthly disposables, or hard lenses, visit us and check out our selection of lenses that fit your needs.

Where can I get Dry eye treatment?

Dry Eye Syndrome, termed keratoconjunctivitis (KCS) refers to dry eyes that irritate you constantly. This annoying condition is due to insufficient production of tears or a poor quality tear composition. When your eyes aren’t lubricated well, you’ll suffer from the sensations of scratchiness, burning, watery eyes, blurred vision and/or a feeling of something gritty stuck in your eyes. The particular cause of dry eyes varies from person to person, and effective dry eye treatment is therefore also highly individual – depending upon the cause.

What are Pink Eye symptoms, causes and treatment?

Conjunctivitis, or Pink Eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva. This is the thin clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelid. It is most common amongst children to get it a lot, and it can be highly contagious (it spreads rapidly in schools and daycares), although uncomftable it is not often serious. It is not likely to damage your vision, especially if it is treated quickly. Take care to prevent its spread and do all the things your doctor recommends, Pink Eye clears up with no long-term problems.

Q&A with Our Hearing Specialist

Our Hearing Specialist Answers Your Questions

When Should I have My Hearing Tested? (Click for the answer)

The AMA recommends a baseline evaluation at age 50 if you have no problems and then a yearly hearing screening.

As soon as possible if you or your loved ones have noticed a hearing problem. Turning the TV up louder than necessary for others to hear, misunderstanding speech, asking people to repeat or feeling that other people are mumbling are just a few possible symptoms of a possible hearing problem.

Regardless of age, yearly screenings are recommended for those with a history of diabetes or thyroid problem, a family history of hearing loss, and if you are taking any medications which may cause a hearing loss (check with your doctor or pharmacist).
